Our Story
About us
Maru began with a personal need.
As someone with melanin-rich skin who has lived across different countries and climates, I experienced how easily skin can feel dry and out of balance through seasonal changes, harsh water, and unfamiliar environments.
I searched for skincare that felt truly nourishing, products that cared for my skin deeply, supported it consistently, and helped restore the natural glow that healthy skin carries.
Too often, I found formulas that felt too light, overly fragranced, or created for trends rather than real skin needs.
So I returned to what I knew.
To the comfort of oils in everyday care.
To intentionally selected African botanicals, many sourced from resilient desert landscapes, long trusted to nourish, soften, and care for the skin.
Growing up in South Africa and experiencing changing climates firsthand, I came to understand just how deeply nourishing these oils could be, especially when skin feels dry, depleted, or out of balance.
Maru brings that understanding into a modern daily ritual, with thoughtful formulations designed to deeply nourish skin and naturally bring out its radiance.
